Teaching Students About Hate Language, Hate Symbols, and the History of Antisemitism

There is a crisis in our local middle and high schools. Students are etching swastikas and other hate symbols in their lockers, on wooden and metal chairs, and placing them inside books and art supplies. We believe many words and symbols of hate are used by students not out of malice but out of lack of education. The Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center has developed a program entitled Teaching Students About Hate Language, Hate Symbols, and the History of Antisemitism.

  • We have created personalized programs that are prepared on a school basis to help students understand the gravity of using particular hate words or symbols.
  • Our program gives Social Studies and English teachers suggested lesson plans on hate speech v. free speech and hate symbols as well as the history of Antisemitism.
