Dr. Mithat Gashi is a board member of Manhattan College’s Holocaust, Genocide, and Interfaith Education Center. He works as a high school principal and teaches at Lehman College- City University of New York, where he co-chaired Lehman College’s Professional Development Network Executive Council. Dr. Gashi is a board member of Vatra -The Pan Albanian Federation of America. He served on the board of directors of the Eye Contact Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes peace and dialogue, and Transcend International, a peace development network. Dr. Gashi has provided workshops for teachers, journalists, diplomats, and members of NGOs both domestically and internationally on topics related to education and conflict transformation by peaceful means. Dr. Gashi holds an advanced degree in International Affairs from Columbia University and a doctorate from Fordham University. He and his family escaped from communist Albania in 1986. His father was a survivor of a communist internment camp.
