HHREC Announces New Storytelling Preparation Resource for Holocaust Descendants
The Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center (HHREC) has announced they have launched the MemoryKeeper Family History Group. This program offers second and third generation Holocaust Survivors an opportunity to outline, develop and present their family’s Holocaust story.
The MemoryKeeper Family History Group provides access to resources that help develop family research, from pre-war through post-war and during their life in the U.S. This workshop offers hands-on assistance in writing vignettes, vetting for historical accuracy working with the HHREC Education Department, and training to prepare for presentations. The program cost is $230 and includes a one-year membership to HHREC.
“We are pleased to announce this important new resource, as it offers a unique opportunity for the descendants of Holocaust survivors to tell their stories and to make meaningful connections.” said Millie Jasper, HHREC Executive Director. “This program is a natural extension of our work in educating people in our communities about the history of the Holocaust, and to ensure the first-hand testimonies of their family members withstand the test of time. “
Training sessions will be held weekly for 10 weeks in person at the HHREC Library at 4 West Red Oak Lane in White Plains. The next workshop group will meet on Tuesday, April 8th. To register or, for more information, contact Millie Jasper mjasper@hhrecny.org.
