“Call me Stefan” - an intersection of rescue and discovery.

Call Me Stefan
This little Polish boy, Stefan Rozenfeld, was saved by the actions of his quick thinking parents and the heroism of the Portuguese Catholic diplomat, Aristides de Sousa Mendes.
As we strive to reach our kids “where they are”, we invite you to share this exhibit about hope, moral courage and gratitude. Take the heroic action of a WW2 Upstander and through the eyes of a child, share it with the next generation.
Bring young Stefan to a community so they see him as a little brother, a cousin or grandchild and offer an exhibit that includes 12 interlocking panels that are sturdy enough, and yet so light, that its star-shaped design can be reconfigured to fit into any event space.
When only 4% of Lodz's Jews survived, it is up to us to talk about those who somehow escaped.
Let us share our gratitude for his survival, while highlighting the heroic act of a diplomatic rescuer who issued life-saving visas.
Research and curation by Portuguese historian, Dr. Cláudia Ninhos. Initiative of the Fundação Aristides de Sousa Mendes with the support of the Diplomatic Institute. Design and conception by the architectural firm of Susana Rosmaninho & Pedro Azevedo. Artifacts available upon request.
