The Neil Ginsberg Student Upstander Award

This award is given in recognition of the contributions and commitment made by Neil Ginsberg to the Human Rights Institute for High School Student Leaders.  Mr. Ginsberg, a dedicated member of HHREC’s Educators Program Committee, taught social studies at Scarsdale High School for over 35 years. He continues to work for social justice in many areas.

Nomination Criteria:

  • Candidates must have attended the annual Middle School Institute for Student Leaders or High School Human Rights Institute.
  • Candidates should be dedicated to promoting activities related to human rights in their schools and/or communities.
  • The Letter of Nomination should explain how this candidate reflects the qualities of an upstander.
  • The Letter of Nomination should be submitted on school letterhead to Director of Education, Steve Goldberg, sgoldberg@hhrecny.org no later than March 1, 2024.
